If your application is submitted after August 21 and doesn't include the updated fees—it’ll be rejected. WHAT’S GOING UP? Here are some of the new costs: Asylum: $100 upfront + $100 each year (no fee waivers) (Any alien who filed or files a Form I-589 after October 1, 2024, that remains pending with USCIS for 365 days must pay the AAF is of the one-year anniversary of his or her filing date and each year thereafter that the application remains pending on such day of the calendar year.) Work Permit (EAD): $550 for first-time, $275 for renewals Green Card (I-485): $1,500 TPS: $500 + work permit costs Parole: $1,000 + EAD Visa Integrity Fee: $250 added to almost all visa categories Form I-94: $24 Immigration Court Motions: Up to $900 VISA INTEGRITY FEE There’s a brand-new $250 Visa Integrity Fee for most non-immigrant visas—like H1B, F1, or J1. Good news: it won’t apply to travelers from most Visa Waiver countries (like Canada, UK, Japan). Some applicants may even get a refund if they comply with visa terms and leave on time. IMPACT SO FAR The new fees are already changing behavior: H1B registrations dropped 27% this year. The basic H1B petition fee jumped from $460 to $780. Artists and low-income applicants are struggling more than ever.
